tales of guitar horror
tales of guitar horror
while playing, teh phone rang so i leaned my baby against the couch. as i answered the phone, i heard my guitar crash against the coffee table and then faall to the floor. its amazing how loud it was. i ran over there like my child was on fire. everything was ok but damn. gave me quite a scare.
reminded me of a time when a buddy of mine was drunk and smashed his guitar to pieces. pure, unadulterated crazinesss.
lets hear yall's guitar horror stories.

Re: tales of guitar horror
That's happened to me my fair share of times. Every guitar is going to have it's dinks.. but when it happens it's just likeryopan wrote:while playing, teh phone rang so i leaned my baby against the couch. as i answered the phone, i heard my guitar crash against the coffee table and then faall to the floor. its amazing how loud it was. i ran over there like my child was on fire. everything was ok but damn. gave me quite a scare.

my first guitar which is a nylon's pretty beat up. it's fallen out of the car, banged into doors, i've accidentally kicked it, etc. my little bro was playing with his tech deck mini skateboard and flung it up and it hit the fretboard making a nice dent. i've banged it against my desk so many times while playing it. etc. etc. i think it's a monster in and of itself.
my taylor, on the other hand, lightly brushed against my desk and i started freaking out.

my 814 still doesn't have a scratch. it's had a few scares, but nothing yet. i know i will freak out.
my other guitar however has been beaten all around. it was my moms, it's old, the finish is wearing, the bridge was removed (by me with a butcher's knife and a spatula) and re-glued...it's still a fun guitar to play...just showing signs of age. my ex-roommate hit it off his open computer case last year and took a chunk out of the side. he was just like "oops."
and my electric is also in perfect condition EXCEPT for a scratch that was put there when i had it set up (at rudy's in nyc for those that wanna be careful). when i pointed it out, the guy was like "no, that was already there." at the time the guitar was barely 2 months old. i told him it was certainly not there and he went off on some lecture about how it was a cheaper gibson and they come "flying off the assebly line". i was like "regardless of where it went flying, it came out with no scratches," but the guy didn't give in. jackass.
oh and...how do i know wearing oops i crapped my pants will help?
"because i am, and i just did."

"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."

i really dont care that much about scratches and dents on my guitras unless they get too big, or they are on the backof the neck or on the fret board
but a guitar is just another instrument ya know?
it more about the music i guess
but yea my guitar has fell over a few times and my beater has a few dents in the neck... grr i hate those

My brother knocked my first guitar over into the egde of a table. Left a huge, well not really but I got plenty pissed, dent in the back of the neck and every time I played it I felt the dent up agianst my thumb. And I ran that thing into walls, dropped it, kicked it over, really anything that could happen to it did but it never broke so yeah there's a testament to the strength of laminate plywood.

i was measuring my action at the 12th fret with a tape measure.....i know, not very smart, anyhow, it accidentally slipped out of my hands and the corner of it put a nice ding right on the top of my guitar. I kinda got scared, but my guitar is a piece of shit so it didn't matter

Some gansta rapper threw a little stone on my guitar.
It was in holiday at night at a beach, there were a lot of people and we were sitting round some candles and stuff and these guys with their ghetto blasters just hated me I think.
