Jethro Tull songs

Unread post by johnnyd » Thu Nov 13, 2003 2:40 pm

Hey,

Anybody out there into learning any songs by Jethro Tull? I just picked up a book with several of their acoustic songs (Skating Away, Thick As Brick
etc.) I'm probably showing my age but I've always liked their stuff. Especially the acoustic songs. Just curious. :)

jethro tull is awesome!

Skating Away is a real great tune...

all of Tull's stuff borderlines basics, but done well...very innovative and original band..

some of my favs are:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Velvet Green
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cup of Wonder
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fat Man
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mother Goose

like most other bands, the stuff on the radio doesn't always cut it...
any others you like particularly that are more obscure?

(oh, and by the way, I'm 16 ;))

I think the name came from some weird character in English history. Not sure of the circumstances but I remember reading something about that a while ago. I agree that the songs aren't real challenging(well they are for me!) but they have that cool English "folk" sound to them.

Yea! Ian Anderson played up here about 6 weeks ago. I wish I could have seen him but it was a really small venue and tickets were pretty scarce.
it was called "An evening with Ian Anderson".

jethro tull was the name of the 17th century farmer who invented the seed drill.

anyway, they're the best band in the world, and they've got some really wicked acoustic tracks. salamander and dun ringill and nursie come immediately to mind. also, the whistler, weathercock, the beginning of the second part of thick as a brick, wondrin' again, moths, cold wind to valhalla, mother england reverie, she said she was a dancer, budapest, we used to know, sossity; you're a woman, and many many others.

speaking of which, does anyone know how to play dun ringill? i've been trying to figure that one out for ages. that and salamander. so beyond me. :?

well I dl'd the song, and going straight to tabbing it instead of listening to it, this is a simple layout of the verse progression you asked for over AIM...
