or is or is the general consus this:

I've tried both, and the second one feels more natural. Am I wrong?

I cant stand holding it the way your "supposed" to. I hold it between my thumb on one side and my index and middle on the other side. There is supposed drawbacks to that way and advantages to doing it the "right" way but I say screw that. Hold it however it feels good to you and I cant see a way holding a pick would impede your playing in any way, my way hasnt stopped me at all from playing and I feel as though Im pretty good at guitar.

i hold my pick anyway i feel like it at the time.... when im doing some fast strumming (or trying to) i hold it with a closed fist between thumb and index... (only way to hit those 16th note triplet strums)... when im picking i dont really do that as much..

Exactly how I hold mine. I've tried to hold it between my thumb and index finger, but I always end up dropping my pick or screwing up.DreaminBassMunky wrote:I hold the pick between my thumb and middle finger...am I weird? you should try and stay reasonably close to the "right way". i use my index and thumb and have the pick perpendicular to my thumb but parallel to my index. so my fingers kinda make a mini X across the pick. and then i either anchor my pinky (i know that is so bad) or i curl up my hand.
the only reason i say you should stay close to the right way, is cuz i mean you already have to deal with the possibilities of carpel tunnel syndrome in the fretting hand. why extend all those risks by using bad technique in your picking hand.
