i use them sometimes....especially during solo's and improv. but mostly i don't use them. probably should but ive always tried to cut down on volume for my roomates sake and it's caused me to be really really comfortable and more accurate w/o them.

I rarely use a pick. I use them for things like the Stone, but even there I have worked out to make it sound good with fingers. Fingers give more of a warm sound, and I like it. If you want the harsh sound, my pod pro can make it happen . . . ah my pod pro :) . Also, it's nice to be able to play really quietly, which you can't do very well with a pick.

picks

Unread post by freshead16 » Mon Oct 13, 2003 12:09 am

ya ive been using picks for the longest time, but lately ive been not using them. and im kinda liking it. im afraid that if i dont use them everyonce in a while ill forget how or have that uncomfortable pick problem. I guess it totally depends on the person but i just wanted to see someother peoples thoughts. thanks and keep filling me in on your thoughts. it helps.

heh. when i first picked up my guitar, i didn't have a pick...went with a pick for about 2 months then got tired of it and went back to my fingers because i enjoyed the mellow sound a lot more. i also feel i have more mobility and control with my fingers than with a pick. :)

I use picks alot although its mainly for stumming and and volume, if I dont use one I probably have one in my palm for when I strum. Ie; OSW intro. I do find I have alot more control without one though.

what about if you were to play live somewhere? like with amps and all. would u recomend the louder sound or the quieter sound? meaning picks or no picks? like would it be loud enough without one?

picks for live performances. that's where i went wrong, not playing w/ a pick made me suck at pick playing. and that caused me to drop my pick duing a live performance.

played live before, was fine without a pick. my voice's "whispery" so the sound was generally mellow. takes some practice, but you can get dynamics without a pick. :)
