having a band and a singer?

Unread post by juineaux » Mon Oct 06, 2003 4:44 pm

My band is really having trouble finding a singer, everyone that we play with says they cant sing to our stuff becuase we "jam out" too much. Is this a common problem? Should we change our style or just try to sing ourselves?

they should still be able to sing over that. i'd say try and sing yourselves but my bands have always sung over solos and all sorts. really that jamming shouldn't be a problem.

how many guys have you had try to sing?

i just can't imagine a good singer finding a type of music that he can't sing to.

if all else fails, just trying singing yourself. you'll have more control, and you wouldn't have to worry about the singer getting bored.

from the music of yours i've heard juineaux, it doesn't seem like you would need a singer. your voice is good enough to sing the few things i think you should

juineaux, if you're looking for a lead singer, you need one who understands the jamming thing, and he/she should be able to participate in it vocally. I know that I go off all the time with my voice just as I would with my guitar/piano/percussion, etc...

if your lead singer doesn't get the jamming thing, they aren't going to work with you. the key in the end is to be sensitive to each other and trade off leads. it's unreal how awesome it is to have a group of people communicating with sounds and not words when you really get going.
