1. clapton - nobody knows you when youre down and out (unplugged, this song is simply fun as hell to play)
2. rusted root - send me on my way - good intro to finger-picking and for getting some coordination into that right hand (besides, um, the obvious)
3. crowded house - better be home soon ('cause you will definitely pick up chicks with this song, nobody knows why)
4. hendrix - bold as love (just awesome)
5. dave - the stone (tough but not too-tough singing/picking combination)

Um, I have a corecction for you. That is a John Lennon song. It was about the short period in the 70s (called his lost weekend) when John & Yoko were apart. There were a few songs about that that he put on Walls & Bridges and after his death released stuff. Then the seperation ended, and they got back together.hopelessposeur wrote:1. clapton - nobody knows you when youre down and out (unplugged, this song is simply fun as hell to play)
That song is on
Walls And Bridges - Track 11
Menlove Avenue - Track 9
John Lennon Anthology, CD 3 (the lost weekend) - Track 2
It is a simple but fun song to play. I love playing the bridge of it, with all the energy right there.
Oh, and P.S. it's Nobody **Loves** You When You're Down And Out

Man, I love John

Yes, I am in a box

Nope, those are two different songs.. Lennon's song is as you mentioned, but the song "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" is copyrighted by Jimmy Cox way way back in 1929. That's the song that's on Clapton's Unplugged CD. It goes as follows:

So in closing, neener neener neener..Once I lived the life of a millionaire
Spending my money, with never a care
Takin' all my friends out for a good time
Drinkin' high-priced liquor, champagne and wine;
Then I began to fall so low;
Didn't have a friend, and noplace to go
If I ever get my hands on a dollar again
I'm gonna squeeze it, until the eagle grins, cause
Nobody knows you when you're down and out.
In your pocket, not one penny
And your friends -- you find you haven't any.
But as soon as you get back on your feet again
Everybody wants to be your long-lost friend
It's might strange, without a doubt
Nobody knows you when you're down and out.
