somebody stole your guitar or sat on it by mistake at a party??? i was just thinking about what i would do if i had no guitar to come home to...
i'm so over-protective of mine, especially since i got my new one in March...whenever anyone picks it up and asks to try it out i think "man i hope this person has a clue on how to strum" cuz i feel bad saying 'no' to my friends who i know don't play guitar, but wanna pick it up just to hit the strings..
they only pick it up for a second though, cuz i think they see me cringing and know that i'm not enjoying what they're doing...i certainly don't mean any offense by it, just an instinctive reaction on my part i guess
anyone else feel the same way??
oh, and i get pissed when someone 'nasty' picks it up and starts jamming on it, i think to myself "damn you! showin me up like that!" haha, that's only happened once though

theres this one guy who wanted to play my guitar the other day. he just got done playing pool so i said 'lemme see your hands.' he had chalk on them so i told him to go wash his hands. he spit on them. i said 'go wash your hands or you dont touch.' he went and washed his hands. he came back and i said 'lemme see your hands. your hands are wet, go dry them off.' he had the nerve to wipe his hands on my pants.
hes played my godin twice.... he doesnt get to touch it anymore... (by the way that story was with my alvarez)

i have a 900 dollar martin. i also have 4 roomates. and they all know how overprotective i am about my guitar. i will straight up swing over it. but they all know so its cool. during parties i try to make sure no one goes in my room and/or im in there if they are.
the other night at one of my parties this guy comes in and wants to jam, so i went and got one of my roomie's guitars. well the guy sucked so i did the right thing and let him play mine while i played my roomies (just cause i could watch him and id feel really bad if he messed up my roomies when i was borrowing it) so we sat there and played 41 while i sang and improved to it. it was my first awesome dave playing experience.
...but back to the question, if that kid would have messed up my guitar i would have thrown him out my window i swear. then he would have payed for both.

My dad's friend was playing his 12-string and set it on the floor when he went to the bathroom. His wife walked in the room didn't see the guitar and stepped on the neck. She cracked it in two. If my wife ever did that she wouldn't be my wife anymore.

my old roommate put a pretty big dent into my old acoustic and i was a little annoyed...
the guy in the shop scratched my gibson while it was in for repair and then denied it, i was pissed and don't let any of my friends shop there anymore. :-p
but if someone scratched my taylor, they'd be paying cash for it.
"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."

mac powell is left handed - i saw him live a few weeks ago.
one thing that gets me angry is people that are like "oh can i try to play it? please?" the only thing that i can think is sure - once you buy your own guitar and start trying to play that one. if you dont play guitar and dont know what structural damage can come out of stupidity than dont touch it! its not yours so dont risk someone elses stuff!

yeah, but sometimes them girls are so damn cute you cant help it right. this one girl asked me to show her something that people would recognize. i showed her the main notes to teen spirit and a two finger free fallin. bought me aleast an hour of hardcore flirt time. then, she banged it into her chair. after counting to 10 and flirting the rest of the night, i chickened out and didnt get her number. what a dumbasss. anyways, you fellas take care of your guitars, cuz in the absence of a woman (or dude for you ladies), the axe is all you have....PEACE.

haha i hear that...i use watchtower as an easy song to teach...just the 5-3-1 E chords and then i say "okay your done, my turn again"..."nope tough luck, just give it back"..."i don't care if you wanna get it right, you never will now fork it over"
