Intro/Verse to Satellite
Intro/Verse to Satellite
I was just messing around wih the tab for this song. I know I will goto hell for this, but I admit that sometimes I stray from the tab, just because I am a beginner, and sometimes Dave is just too tough to play like Dave.
Anyway, so I am learning Satellite, and it occurred to me that I could simply slide down the A and D strings (4 6, 3 5, 1 3, 4 6) rather than jump around like the tab does.
I was noticing how much squeaking there was when I do this, and then I listened to the studio version of Satellite....exact same squeaking.
Just an observation

Actually, when I first started playing, I figured out how to play that intro/verse the exact same way. I too had the realization of the squeaks on the record, and it is undoubtedly played the same way. You cannot achieve those exact squeaks from playing satellite the normal way. May it be Dave, may it be Tim, I am positive it is played this way on the record.

I have to concur about not being able to achieve a squeak on the real fingering pattern for Satellite. I believe it was Timmy on the album as well. He was quite a key player in DMB for recording purposes and live performances back then. I dont have my guitar with me cause IM in Tampa but I remember getting a sqeak noise from sliding. And there is no sliding in the intro/verse when Dave plays it solo. Listen to an acoustic solo version and see if you hear "it" then.
And then again, I could be totally wrong.
