Anyone wanna help me out?

Unread post by Lying In My Grave » Wed Aug 13, 2003 3:01 am

Alright, here's the deal: I wrote this song a while ago, and i've been trying to put music to it ever since. However, I am at a mental block with it - nothing is coming out! I'd like to play it to someone in particular, the person I wrote it for, but that'd be hard to do with having only the lyrics...

If anyone would like a 'challenge' or something, I'd be forever greatful. I wrote it as a playful song, nothing too serious. just two people having fun, enjoying each others company, and that's the style I'd like for the guitar. I'll accept anything, and either play around with what I'm givin or keep it the way it is. Thanks for any help or suggestions that may come. When it gets on a cd I'll give you credit
(Also, notice the line from Drifting; my small tribute to trey anastasio :D)

Together

It’s dark out here tonight
But it’s warm and so inviting.
We’ve got some grass under our backs
And the crickets are slowly arriving.

The fog has lifted
We’ve got the moon and the stars above
You’ve got my arm for a pillow
And I’ve got your love.

I should’ve worn long pants
A Bug’s crawlin’ up my shin
Nah we won’t leave early
Wait till morning begins

We have no sounds of the ocean
So I need you to speak in its place
No, I’m not saying you sound like rumbling
I need a perfect sound to match a perfect face

Fell asleep together
After talking all the night.
Then waking up together
So together we start our lives.

-Tyler
...and we're all thirsty
like drunks on Sunday
brooding like the blades of a fan on low speed
or a writer with only one good line.

here you go man...it's really rough since i just finished writing it, and i suck at singing ;), but that's what i got out of it. i made some slight changes to the lyrics to give the song a little more structure, and if you like what i did, i can give you the tab.

Together- Right Click and Save Target As

edit: check the bottom for lyrics in the tab.

all right, here's the tab. it's a little messy, and if you need anymore help with it, just ask. it's a pretty easy song, so i made the tab in a few minutes, plus i'm not very good at making them in the first place ;). hope this helps!

Here's the the main verse. (1)
---0---0----
---0---3----
---6---4----
---7---4----
-----2------
-5----------

You can also throw in a few hammer-ons and stuff for variation, just mess around with them however/wherever you like.

---0h5----0h2-0----
---0h5----3h3-3----
---6h6----4h4-4----
---7h7----4h4-4----
--------2------------
-5-------------------

End of Verse- (2) [Wait 'till morning begins]
---0---0--3---
---0---3--3---
---6---4--0---
---7---4--0---
-----2----2---
-5--------3---

Chorus (3) [The fog...]
-0-0-0----
-5-3-3----
-6-2-2----
-7-4-0----
----------
----------

End of Chorus (4) [And I've got your love]
-0--0--0--0----
-5--3--3--2----
-6--2--2--2----
-7--4--0--2----
-----------0----
----------------

Last part (5) [Fell asleep..]

-3-3----
-3-3----
-0-0----
-0-0----
-2-2----
-3-2----

then at the end of it, go back to the chorus and end on the A-chord.

"Together"
