well I have a lot of friends that want to play guitar and I offered to give them some lessons for some free lunch because I wouldn't mind having people to jam with either.......... so
what are the most basic things to teach? I have always been good at explaining things to people but I just want to know if I am forgetting something, I always start with come as you are by nirvana just to let people play a song they recognize before giving them boring scales and such and then I work on the open chords and major and pentatonic scales.
an suggestions>?`

I taught for a little while. It was kinda random so it didn't go so well, but yeah if you can find some songs that use basic chords (trust me there are a lot of them) and refer to them when teaching the chords, it makes the experience all the more better.....hmm....more better? Anyway, it's also a good idea to plan what you teach before giving a lesson. Sorry to sound like a dork, my dad is a teacher, but anyway that's my advice.
