D'Dario or Elixir?

Unread post by DropD-MB » Fri Aug 08, 2003 4:52 pm

I use elixir and they are getting a bit pricey for me. Would anybody suggest D'dario as an alternative? Please give me some comparisons. Thanks

Elixers. reeeeally. Elixers. i went from Elixers to D'addarios, & i almost cried. maybe i did, i don't remember.

Reasons i love elixirs
1) They feel amazing (its like candy but for your fingers)
2) They sound amazing (insert homer simpson gargle)
3) (minute reason) They look a lot more classy then those bronze strings

Elixirs are like heroine to the addict.... if i got d'addarios id be depressed and i wouldnt enjoy playing as much... lol

heh. yeah. if you can, try both of 'em out, and see which one you like.

i fell in love with the feel of my elixers, and they last forever (unless you do some crazy crap..but uh...yeah. hehe.)

also loved how they sounded on my Taylor. everything's personal preference, but i'm definitely stickin' with Elixers, and that's just my bag.

YOu ahve heard from the Elixir faithfuls but there are many on this board that are D'addario faithfuls....they will surface...

I just put the "D'Ddarios on my guitar. I wish I would have payed three more dollars and got the elixirs. I got the coated D's and the difference is that Elixir is coated on the outside of the wound string. The D's are coated then the string is wound. I need to break them in before I can give a them a fair analysis.

The overall tone of D'Addario strings are much better than the Elixirs on which the coating freys very easily cheapening the sound...

Elixirs are slick as hell which reduces string squeek, a factor which contributes to the lesser tone quality...You could just form some real calluses by playing D'Addarios and not need the coating...

D'Addarios are the strings to buy...

elixirs are the way to go IMO...

they last forever and keep GREAT tone...

the D'Addarios didn't sit right with me...

just my opinion
