well as a girl, may i offer some suggestions:

-first, play a song that looks really hard. such as billies, satellite, smts, wwys, etc. pick something with a lot of slides and stuff that's all over the fretboard. this should be sufficient to impress her initially. just don't play captain--no one wants to get with mr. claw hand.

-next, play a song that shows your sensitive side. any of the lovey dovey ones will do. ibyu, lover lay down, crush, you get the idea.

-if you really want to go the extra mile, play an original. but act kind of shy about it, like you're baring your soul... chicks love that.

important! while you're playing dont' be making googly eyes at her. you want her to think you're a sensitive musical genius, not some guy who's trying to get in her pants.

dave has lots of songs about girls so it shouldn't be too hard to find one.

jojo, try crush or maybe recently. or try writing your own! that'll be sure to impress the gf.

what if you are just some guy trying to get in her pants? :D

but seriously, i find that the girls who are worth impressing, aren't so easily swayed by guitar playing. isn't that kinda shallow? using your guitar to chase after tail?

Here's what ya do. Play "Mama I'm Coming Home" by ozzy Osbourne, which is really a great acoustic song with a helluva hook. Then explain to her that you love your mother, so much in fact, that you still live with her.

 Wait, maybe that should go into the "don't" pile.

Ooh, say that! You're an instant sweetie pie.

Seriously, can there be anything better than writing a song for a girlfriend? Let it be a simple GCD progression and cook up some lyrics for the lady. Right Erin?

However, if you would see my stats with the ladies since I started grad school, you would run away from my advice.

yes! write a song for your girl. she'll love it. just think how cool you'd feel if a girl you were crazy about took the time and effort to write you a song.

don't worry, q'dore, they're probably just intimidated by your vandy upbringing. wait, this means you must have had quite the record as an undergrad....interesting.... i wonder if we ever..... oh wait, i think i remember you!

i'm headed to work, but dr. erin's love line will return this evening. stay tuned!

Isn't that why we all learned to play the guitar? To help get into chicks pants. Like John Mayer said "If you play a guitar it automatically adds points to your score"
