Unread post by Pickles » Sun Jul 13, 2003 11:21 pm

i was just wondering who everybody here thinks is the best thing to ever happen to guitar.... i myself cant really decide... theres so many greats... Eric Clapton and B.B. King are just smooth... theyre great... but then theres also greats like Joe Satriani and Kirk Hammett.... Hendrix isnt really on my list.. hes good and all, but i just dont think of him as much as i do the others...

Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads.. are all awesome guitarists but not the best thing to ever happen.. Clapton on the other hand can do it all.

Clapton
BB King
Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughn (i don't dig his music much, but i respect him)
(since this is a "favorites" and not "best" thread) Tim Reynolds, of course.

also, is Kirk Hammet really *that* good?

i'm pretty partial to jack johnson at the moment. he's not my all time favorite, but i cant think of who that is - probably leo kottke or clapton.
jack just has such a mellow style, there's nothing flashy about it. thats an attractive style to me right now.

John Petrucci
Jason Becker
Al Di Meola
Paul Bilbert
Ynwie Malmsteen
Marty Friedman
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani

In no order, even though I personally think Petrucci is the most original and interesting (not necessarily the most talented)

Don Ross....I have brought him up before. Download something from this guy!!! Or better yet, buy his albums. All fingerpicking, and absolutely amazing. Try "Klimbim."
