Left hand broken, ways to train the right hand?

Unread post by DrPhil » Wed Sep 30, 2009 8:33 am

Hey guys, first post here - long-time lurker though.

Well, the topic says it all - my left hand is partially broken (plus possible joint damage).
Now, I still consider myself a bloody amateur regarding the guitar, so I'm desperately looking for measures to keep training my right hand, especially since I'm lacking rhythm and keeping it.

Any advice is welcome, really.

Thanks in advance

maybe just mute the strings and try a strumming pattern really slow with a metronome, then as you get more comfortable with it try it gradually faster. Then you'll have practiced your cleanness and precision with strumming?

you could learn to play with a slide
(given that you could hold the slide with your left hand)

Hey guys, thanks for the replies so far - hum, I've been thinking about getting a metronome, don't have one yet - there are a lot of different kinds of metronomes, with varying price tags ...any hints?

And well, I could hold a slide, but it sounds terrible, I just don't know how to play with it....sounds squeaky and screeching, wobbly and just not good at all...
