Radiohead Chord ?

Hi guys, this is my first post but I've read these boards for awhile now. I had a question about a bar chord in the song Paranoid Android by Radiohead. The chord is

b-8--
g-9--
d-10--
a----
E-8--

My question is this supposed to be a bar chord with the index finger on the 8th fret? If so, how do u play it so that there is no sound from the a-string? Or is this supposed to be played with a different finger on each string? Thanks for your help, I know this is probably an extremely easy thing but its confusing me.

Index (8)
Pinkie (10)
Ring (9)
Middle (8)

The A string is going to be muted by your index finger. Just let it lay on the string without fretting it.

Or you could bar it off and fingerpick everything except the A.

You could also try using your thumb to press down on the 8th fret E if you have big enough thumbs, that's what I'd do

i would most definitely use my thumb

i'd probably do it that way if i were fingerpicking, but it'd be hard to mute the A string if strumming.
