Just curious. Do they sound as good as they look?

I have a friend who has a Mexican made one...he makes it sound like nothing I have hears...of course, he has been playing for like 30 years and uses the coolest Line 6 stacks...I personaly don't like them too much...but alot better than most every tele or some strats I have played...Santana has his own model that he has been using forever now...just not my #1 pick...

my brother has a $1500 PRS and it sounds pretty good. the only gripe i have with PRS's is that a bunch of crappy rock bands keeping using them and just use full out distorted power chords
. i could do that on a $200 guitar and get the same results. so basically, they sound good if you can play well.

Exactly! All I see in guitar magazines now are PRS ads with X player (X = Nickelback, Linkin Park, Puddle of Mudd, etc.) All of which I can't stand.
But God they're purty! And noone can debate the tone Santana gets out of them.

Santana is great, but most people who play them arent that good. at least the famous ones anyway.

in my personal experience with prs, the low end ones play like crap and the high end ones are great. they sorta sound like a les paul, but theyve got a bigger body and more sustain than any guitar ive ever heard. the secret to santana's tone isnt so much in the prs as it is with his amps. he's got an old boogie that he's been using forever and a dumble that he borrowed from some amp collector.
fornit some fornus
