Random Observations

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Sun Jun 01, 2003 12:25 am

Alright, after being bored out of my mind all weekend, I decided to figure out once and for all who was the better performer, Joe Satriani or Steve Vai...

Though this is mainly an acoustic playing forum, I thought it would be interesting to share my observations...

After a couple of hours of watching live footage downloaded from Kazaa, I'de have to say that Joe Satriani wins hands down...

First of all, he is slightly more innovative than Steve Vai on top of being faster with his technique. And secondly I have come to the conclusion that Steve Vai is far to feminine to be a rock god, as a matter of fact he freaked me out. If you're looking for something funny to watch, download some of his footage...

...this has been a random post by CPTino3001...

Didn't he also teach Vai at some point? I thing Satriani has better songs than Via but Yngwie Malmsteen is technically bettter than both of them.

satch taught vai and hammet... but i think vai is the superior player. remember that movie crossroads, with the guy from karate kid? vai wrote and played that whole duel scene at the end. and malmsteen may be faster, but so is michael angelo. so, speed isnt everything apparently.

yeah, i saw that scene (just the duel) the other day. kinda a dorky seeming movie except for the guitars and all. that scene was pretty sweet though. it was just weird that this guy is playing crazy rock guitar to all these black folks dressed up like they are they for church. i was confused. sweet guitar nonetheless.

I though Joe Satriani co-wrote the duel w/ Vai and played the kid's part...

listening through some vai and satriani stuff the other day I've decided I think Satriani is more talented.
