Action

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Sat May 31, 2003 7:52 am

I noticed recently that my action seems to be noticably high...

I was just wondering how high everyone keeps there action, mines about 1/8" at the 12th fret...

Just curious...

Mine is as low as humanly possible, without ringing on the 1st fret. Don't know the exact measurement though :)

On my 814, it is low enough to amazement, but high enough for me to strum solid with no buzz or ring...

...Chet though...I need so adjustments...

my LP Deluxe sits on the frets

Strummin

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Sun Jun 01, 2003 12:08 am

I can strum the hell out of it in Drop-D when playing DDTW and don't get any buzz...I'm thinking on having it lowered...Those bar chords are bitches w high action...

...or I could just build a stronger grip...we'll see...

do you use light or medium guage strings? if you use mediums than switch to lights and you'll notice a difference. the action will be lower and it'll be easier to play. won't get as rich of a tone though
good, and you?

are there any benefits to playing with a lower action, or a higher action. I usually don't pay to close attention to it, but once in a while I'll adjust it because of comfortability issues.

hey i have a question...i got my Les Paul set up in february with 11's on it, but i have a set of 10's and i kindof want to put them on it. will it make enough of a difference in the action to cause buzzing? it's pretty low i think.

I've heard the topic of action come up a few times, and I've been playing for about a year. I know what it is, but what are its effects? What is a good action to keep the guitar at for beginner/intermediate players? How can action be adjusted?

action is best depending on what style you play. i like my action really really low. some people might want it a bit higher. it effects how easy you can play, how hard you have to press down.
