Sweet Home Alabama

Unread post by coyoteguy » Thu Aug 10, 2006 11:05 am

I know this is a song that pretty much everyone who plays the guitar knows how to play and of course it always impresses your friends and such. I haven't really tried to learn this song but now I do and the only piece in the intro that bothering me in the hammer ons and pull offs in the beginning. Can someone give me any tips on playing this part, as far as fingering and such? If you have a great tab also, you can send it my way. Thanks

the only advice I can give is to practice it over and over. or just play it and not think about it. it is the kind of song that everyone knows how to play, but VERY few people play it exactly right. don't worry too much on it cause there are a shit ton of variations that still sound good.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": There are five different types of chairs in this hotel room.

I'm assuming you're talking about the part below...

Code: Select all

-------------------------------
-------------------------------
--------0--0----------------2p0
-------------------0-2p0-------
--------------0h2--------2-----
-3(0)3-------------------------
That part was tough for me too when I first learned that tune. What I do, and I'm pretty sure what the guitarist (Ed King, I think) that plays the intro does the hammer-on/pull-off part all with his index finger. Other than that little tip, I would say practice it over and over and over until you have it down.

it doesnt have both guitars and solos on the same tab lines as the regular guitar lives. just look at the tab for those sections you want.
or look for a tab of someone's cover of sweethome alabama and you'll probably get a decent one for just one guitar.
