Help Me Tab Out A Song

Unread post by jsgksu » Sun Aug 06, 2006 7:59 pm

Ok, Im terrible with figuring shit out by ear or really doing anything without tabs. Theres this band called "The Chris McCarty Band" that I saw in Panama on Spring Break, they were fucking awesome. I was talking back and forth with the lead singer on mypsace, and I asked him how to play a certain song on guitar and this is what he told me:
Chris McCarty wrote: The notes to stuck are: C, C/D/B, B/C/D, D/E/C, C/D/E, E/C/D, D/E/C, C/D/B

Try this fingering: index(1) on 'A' string and pinky(4) on 'B' string.

Chorus is C, G, Am, F
And here is the song live: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?a ... 44456853D1

I dont know if hes saying to play the C chord as x3xx4x and then just slide it around the fretboard, if thats the case, the B doesnt sound right at all. And I dont know if youre just supposed to play the chorus with open chords or whatever. If anyone can help let me know, thanks.

Never heard the song or the band before, but I'll take a whack at it...

The intro sounds like

Code: Select all

C3 D4 B4 C3
------------------------------
-5-5-5-5---8-8-8---5-5-5---5--
-5-5-5-5---7-7-7---4-4-4---5--
-x-x-x-x---x-x-x---x-x-x---x--
-3-3-3-3---5-5-5---2-2-2---3--
------------------------------

And your E chord would probably
C3 D4 B4 look like this:
----------------------- ----
-5-5-5-5--8---5-5-5---- -10-
-5-5-5-5--7---4-4-4---- etc. -9--
-x-x-x-x--x---x-x-x---- -x--
-3-3-3-3--5---2-2-2---- -7--
----------------------- ----
That's what it sounds like to me anyway. The chord progression you have shown looks/sounds correct, though I didn't really give the tune a thorough listening - just the first 20 seconds or so. Your C, D, and B chords would be the C3, D4, and B4 chords I posted (I just felt the need to give them the correct name, because technically those aren't "normal" C, D, B and E chords, but they're close enough). You should be able to find your way using those four chords. Hope ya figure out the tune.
