Soundtrack 4 Life

If you had the chance to make a soundtrack to your life but only had 10 songs to do it - what songs would you choose and why would you choose each individual song?

DM - So Damn Lucky - so many reasons

DM - Up and Away - because the guitar part sounds easy to play but it's not

Coldplay - Shiver - because i love the lead guitar parts

Coldplay - Clocks -

Coldplay - Speed of Sound - if ur not careful it might make you trip out

DMB - You Never Know - dave's wordplay

Oasis - Roll With It - motivational

Tom Petty - Wildflowers - cause its pretty

DMB - Two Step (studio version) - cause it makes me hype

Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger - the drum transition back to the chorus

Hmm, well, this could go either way. I mean, if we're talkin' about songs that just have special meaning to us, either because of the words or just simply because the music moves us a certain way, then that's one thing. However, if we're talkin' simply meaning of lyrics and how they might apply to one person's particular life circumstances, that's a totally different ball game. 'Cause even if I don't like a song, the lyrics might be incredibly appropriate for my situation. Hmmmm . . . . I'll have to get back to ya.

Each of these songs sort of epitomizes different times in my life, in-so-much as the songs themselves instill a strong sense of nostalgia for very distinct points in my life. More accurately the albums that these songs appear on would better represent the "soundtrack of my life," but these songs in particular. The lyrics are irrelevant.

Eddie & The Cruisers Soundtrack - On The Darkside
- This reminds me of summers when I was a kid. We'd watch this movie every Friday night and we got to stay out until 10 while our moms gabbed.

Motley Crue - Without You and Skid Row - 18 & Life
- These albums epitomized my entire Jr. High life. My first real kiss. Without You was my first real girlfriend's favorite song, and the whole Dr. Feelgood album pretty much rules. Hair bands ruled the world when I was in Jr. High

Faith No More - Mid-Life Crisis
- Jr. High/High School transition. We all started smoking and drinking and doing drugs. It reminds me of deliquent summers and early HS parties.

Pearl Jam - Even Flow
- Grunge was in full swing and these guys were huge. All the metalheads started wearing flannel. It reminds me of HS in general, and I loved HS.

No Doubt - Spiderwebs
- First summer out of HS. Drinking, smoking, drinking, smoking and tons of sex in between. The summer of '96 is one of my favorite years of all time.

Sublime - Smoke 2 Joints
- Same.

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
- My hippie phase. I started disc golfing and taking lots of acid and smoking weed at an alarming rate. I got into Phish and a bunch of other jambands, too, but not as much as Hendrix.

Prodigy - Firestarter
- My acid-hippie phase. I was eating a lot of acid and mushrooms and listening to all sorts of electronica at the time. Firestarter got the ball rolling.

DMB - Crush
- The song that totally changed my view of DMB and ushered in a new phase of music appreciation.

DMB - Raven
- Katie and I hooked up right before BS came out and this track was a favorite right away. The album encapsulates the early days of our relationship.
