My exciting weekend venture!

Unread post by hd28v » Sun May 11, 2003 8:43 pm

I am a Martin fan. Plan and simple. I recently joined a Martin Guitar Fourm and I was asked to go to an "Ohio Valley" get together. I knew that I would be by far the youngest guy there at 23 years of age. One of the oldest at DMB.com but youngest on that forum. Anyway, I decided to go knowing if it sucked I could just leave. Turned out I had a great time. Not one of the 8 guys and 1 gal played Dave so I gave them a song, Stone (instrumental) and they were impressed. They played some great bluegrass tunes and alot of flatpicking. Everyone let everyone play there guitars. Here is the list of them: "guitars that were brought to the Ohio River Valley UMGF spring get together: D-28, D-1, OM-28V, SWOM, O-15, OM-18V, D-18DC, D-18CW, D-41DM, D12-35S, D-35S, HD-28V, HD-28V, D12-28, N-10, D-18, D-2832, D-16RGT, Shenendoah, Sigma DM2, and a D-18 kit." I must say I was impressed with them all but for the money, around 900 bucks I would suggest the 16RGT. Great value and it can hang with the D-41.
2002 HD-28V
2003 D-15

very cool! man that sounds like a lot of fun, actually. I'll be 23 tomorrow (may 13) reminds me of a song: "23 and so tired of life, so ashamed to throw it all away, the images grow darker still" I love that line :) anyway, I love Martins too and I WILL eventually have a nice one like an HD-28 or a nice D-18 or something. I just love the tone those martin's have.
good, and you?

Well I'm only 15..^^.. but I've been looking into getting a Martin. Know any real good ones, that are real deals. Somewhere between like 600-800 bucks maybe.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

i go to school at Purdue and every summer, just outside of town, in a little place called Battleground, indiana, they have the indiana fiddlers gathering. this thing is incredible. they have like a week long bluegrass festival with pickers all over and just guitarist jamming out in the streets. totally awesome. banjos and fiddles and mandolins and autoharps and just crazy good musicians. and at 21 i am one of the youngest adults. i think the only ones younger are little kids. so i feel ya on that point.

oh and there are plenty of mullets there too.
