What next...?
hi all
at first i want to excuse for my english....4 years 4 lessons per week ar not really much...
now to the topic
i'm playing the guitar now for nearly 4 years. i've self taught and have never been to school etc... today i can "play" the guitar ....
chords, a lot of songs (even some tricky ones), some blues patterns etc...
but i don't know what I should do now. what would you suggest me to learn? should i start playing classical? learn more songs? enlarge my theoretical knowledge?
DOES ANYBOEDY HAS SOME ADVICE HOW I CAN DEVELOP MY GUITAR PLAYING???
thank you very much

1. learn notes on fretboard (PM me)
2. learn to sight read (Modern Method for Guitar--William Leavitt)
2.5 learn basic theory (Idiot's Guide to Music Theory, Guitar Fretboard WOrkbook)
3. learn different techniques--fingerstyle, flatpicking, tapping, slap/pop, slide
4. expose yourself to different styles-classical, flamenco, bluegrass, blues, jazz, the list goes on forever
5. Play with lots of different people
6. Play in front of people
Those can all be done simultaneously.
At this point, I would definetely recommend learning music theory. This will expand your knowledge on music and the guitar greatly and will boost your creativity a lot and make it more enjoyable.
I wish I would have learned music theory ... I've played for about 6 years now self taught and can play anything put in front of me, but I can't write anything cause I don't know basic music theory. Maybe I should take some time to learn that ...

You will find that you know a lot more than you think you do. I'd recommend it highly.Taylor2885 wrote:I wish I would have learned music theory ... I am more or less in the same situation... Are there any downloads that might help us develop music theory? I mean texts, books, tabs, etc. I've searched for that a while ago and wasn't very successful. Any sugestion?I wish I would have learned music theory ...
