Need a list of good beginner-intermediate songs to learn

Unread post by DSeibel » Mon Jul 04, 2005 3:34 pm

Guys

I have been playing for a while now and I have been struggling with trying to find a list of cool songs I can stick with and learn. I seem to jump around with no real direction. Here are some songs I have started learning...some better than others...can you guys help me add to my list.

-Crash Into Me
-Lover Lay Down
-Jimi Thing
-Everlong - Foo Fighters
-Times like these - Foo Fighters
-Knockin on heavins door - Dylan
-Wish you were here - Pink Floyd
-Redemption song - Bob Marley
-Burn One down - Ben Harper

Basically looking for songs that are catchy, people know, and that will allow me to build my confidence and move along to more difficult things down the road.

Thanks

Dave

learn the whole song. you probably can play the verse of jimi thing and lover lay down, but it will help you more to learn the chorus and everything.

if you want something fun to play at parties learn big pimpin'. i always get a good response
For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

That opening "solo" is pretty much straight-forward. Using the natural minor and some blues scales.

if you're counting jimi thing as a beginner song then pretty much most guitar you can get in a somewhat short period of time. once you learn to play dave style, most everything else, save for funky tunings and blues stuff is mostly just open chords. just go through your CD collection or your iPod and just learn to play songs you like. and learning whole songs helps.
hosting the oscars is like winning the heisman trophy. no matter how you do in the ballgame, or whatever, they can't take it away from you. and even if you kill your wife and an ex-waiter, they still have a hard time taking it away from you
