Hand/Wrist Hurt?
Recently My wrist and part of my hand has started hurting. It's just my left hand, and I'm pretty sure it's from guitar. I've also lost range of motion and strength in that hand. I've stopped playing and am taking it easy, but it's not really getting any better. Has this happened to anyone? And if so, what was it, what should I do?

I had that happen to my left hand from playing so I adjusted how I held my hand and didn't use to much pressure on teh strings and it went away. Then it happened to right hand and I'm pretty sure it's from how I used to rest my arm when using the computer. From what I've read, these symptoms coincide with mild damage to the ulnar nerve.m98ter wrote:6 months into playing guitar, half of my left hand (pinky, ring, and palm) went numb for about two whole weeks. I never was sure if it was the guitar, or constantly sitting at a computer and typing, but I assumed it was one of the two. Went away though......sure was a weird feeling though.

Be careful about playing anything, especially Dave Matthews, before stretching your hands extensively. What your symptoms are showing is the beginning stages of carpal tunnel syndrome. Just make sure you stretch before each session and after each session, and you'll be fine.

Yeah, do whatever you can to prevent CTS. It is horrible. I got it while working construction, and since I've started playing the guitar (about 3 months) it has started to come back. I can only play for about 10 minutes before my left hand starts going numb. Then I have to stop and straighten my wrist and let the blood flow back into my hand. Pain in the ass and it fucks with your groove.
