Well, on one hand I know I wouldnt be as versed as I am right now. Thats for sure. But the other day, I met a really cool guy (He's like 295 lbs. - makes the guitar look like the ukelele) who TEARS on the guitar, and he didnt have internet so he just learned by ear. He plays without a pick and can reach near Tim Reynolds speeds. He's got a great ear - I dont know if it was the way he learned or if it is innate. Either way, in the long run, he feels he was better off not learning on the internet. But me personally, I dont know. I dont think I could do it. :)

i also learned without taking lessons, and i can say im at least as good as anyone else. i learned most of the DMB music from the Cherry Lane books. You don't need the internet to learn how to play guitar yourself. One day I just picked up my brother's acoustic guitar and attempted to learn myself...

no lessons here either and yes, the internet has helped me alot. i didnt have any books or anything so i just learned from tabs and in time really figured out the fretboard. from there you can really take off. yeah, w/o it i would be behind where i am now.
