Covered in Rain solo

Unread post by Beauford33 » Tue Nov 09, 2004 10:20 pm

TWO THINGS:

1)Can some one please tell me what scale(s) John uses for this song. (song is in Drop-D)

2) Can someone please tab out the first little solo he does in the "bridge" part and the little riff he does before and during the main solo when the song speads up.

Here is the song if none of you have heard it:

Thanks, any help is appreciated. This is one badass solo and is my favortie song right now.

I can't really help you BK, but I agree that the solo in this song is off the hizzee. Someone on the jmtabs boards might be able to help. http://www.jmtabs.com

what did I just say in the post above? I want my own solo, I just want to know the scale(s). However, those two parts are just too bad ass.

I already have been there and Im there all the time with my newfound respect for John.

by reading that you should be able to see scale structures, and figure them out.

alright, took a minute, but here is what he uses, for the most part its just some pentatonic major blues scales, at the 3, and 5 position, and he uses the one positioned at the 3 in both octaves. then just throw in some improv.

if you dont know what the difference between pentatonic, and pentatonic blues, theres a few extra notes added here and there http://sites.rapidus.net/dloignon/pentbluesa.htm

got diagrams to help.
