Question about alternate tunings and string life

Unread post by You_Enjoy_Myself » Tue Nov 02, 2004 1:53 pm

I've been putting my guitar into a lot of different tunings lately, and I'm just wondering if changing the tuning frequently will have any effect on the longevity of the life of the strings? :?:

from what i've heard and experienced, yes

changing the tension a lot really isn't great for the strings but it's just part of the game

Eh, I'm usually always in a different tuning, and my strings seem alright. I guess they do wear down a bit faster. I do use Elixirs though.

mine don't wear down so much as i'll end up breaking one sooner than i would have if i haven't been changing tunings so much
