Need a new song to learn

Unread post by southpaw2v » Tue Oct 26, 2004 6:04 pm

I just finished learning a few more dave songs and thought it'd be a good idea to take a break from dave songs for a while. So, Im lookin for something new to play...Ive been playin for about 6-7 months to give you an idea of my skill level and am in search of somethin new to play...

I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions of songs that I could learn, I dont really care who its by as long as it sounds good. I was also wondering about some Ben Harper songs

so what do you guys suggest?

thanks

Jack Johnson Gone, Its fairly easy, mainly just picking chords.

Howie Day Collide, again just chords you need a capo though

Learn how to improv thats always fun to do when you have nothing better to play.

When you get a capo go for a Shubb, you can adjust the tightness on those. The ones you wrap around are a pain, and the clamp ones have only one strength and get in the way sometimes. The Shubbs are like 20 normally.

Learn some songs that you can play when you jam with others. Layla Unplugged, Stairway, Nothing Else Matters, stuff everyone should know.

Ben harper burn one down you can play on a regular 6 string and its a fun one. Others that are cool.

Foo Fighters - Everlong acoustic, Dave (Grohl that is) played it on Howard Stern (Drop D)
Foo Fighters - Times like these acoustic
Led Zep - Tangerine
Niel Young- Old Man
Radiohead - Creep acoustic version
Barenaked Ladies - Brian Wilson (Capo)
Grateful Dead - Uncle Johns Band
Green Day - Time of your life
Oasis - Wonderwall
Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
U2 - One

Etc, etc. These are just a few songs I found easy to pick up.
