Am I weird?

OK so like, is it weird that like i can play 40 or so dave songs fairly close to his, most other artists songs i can do near perfect, and i have an interesting style of my own? Cause like i dont think im great, but allot of people have been sayin stuff like "your really good", but i dont think im that great. Like just today i was at a guitar store, looking at amps, and i got some "assistance" from a sales rep, and he like set it up, grabbed a guitar, played some nice stuff and some ok solos up around fret 15 or so, and stuff, then handed the guitar to me. I didnt do anything good, just the nature intro and then a little of billies, some say goodbye, and a chris robinson song, and the guy goes... "damn, your good, i love what your doin up there on those top strings"..."hold old are you... 14, man, how long you been playin?...2 years, how long you been takin lessons...6 monhs... wow... right on man!" and then after i bought some stuff and left, he yelled at me "man dont quit, your somethin" and this guy is like 50 somethin, and im thinkin... "umm im not that good......." the whoooole time...

im not askin this to say "haha im good!!!" but im like wondering, am i good or somethin for my age, cause i dont think im that great, but i dont know what it is.

When an old friend of my folks came a year ago I played for him. He's in his 50s, and was in a band my dad did sound for. I played some fingerpicked tunes, and he said that he couldn't do that, and was shocked. I didn't think it was that impressive, though.

No. You're not as good as you could be. Don't be bragging, 'cause some people that have been playing half as long are four times as good. People will tell you you're good to make you feel good and encourage you. Keep playin'.

I'm not saying this to be mean, and it is true, but just never be satisfied and always move forward. If you ever think you're good enough to brag, don't and watch someone like Chet Atkins play (or anyone more skilled than yourself). Actually, no one should ever seriously brag 'cause you just look like an ass and it doesn't matter how good you are. :/

you kinda missed the whole point of my post, i dont think im great, im not bad, but i mean i dont thing im great. im never gonna stop improving, but its like weird for people to say "wow, amazing" when im like "damn i fucked that up"

my uncles been playing for like 30 years, Ive been playing for 3, he watches me play a dave song and thinks Im a prodigy, he thinks Im amazing and way better than him. I just think older people arent used to that style and the hands all over the fret board and arent used to it and think were amazing. My uncle is way better than me weather he knows it or not. I refuse to believe I could be better than someone whos been playing for 30+ years

Judging from what I've heard I can confidantly say that you have a lot of natural talent. That can only get you so far though.

I have to remind myself that there are a lot of people that put in the hours and hours of practice but because of some predisposition they hit a wall and can't progress any further. It makes me realise how important it is for those with talent to put in the hard work because it doesn't come easy to a lot of people.
I listen to amazing guitarist's not only to enjoy the music but to keep myself grounded and humble because there are SO MANY amazing musicians out there and to call yourself great after a few years of playing is ludicris no matter how far you've progressed.

Cheers to those who truly appreciate making music and don't get sidetracked by all the bullshit.

My dad's friends are really good and in a band and play mostly 60s and 70s stuff and I'll play SMTS or Two Step or something and they think I'm awesome. I'm not, I have trouble with "easy" songs. I'm not saying Dave is the greatest, but he has a unique style and to people that aren't familiar with him it loooks really impressive.

Well, I think you're kind of asking this so you can feel good about yourself. You can just tell your 14.

Well, I think you're kind of asking this so you can feel good about yourself. You can just tell your 14.

im bassically asking if its weird for a 14 year old to be able to play allot of dave. i dont care if anyone thinks or says im good, i could be tim reynolds for all i care, and still be trying to get better.

like my family would say wow your pretty good, but i dont listen to them they cant play they dont know anything. but when my friends and stuff who i think are much better than me say it, just from like a few dave songs, it kinda was weird.... cause im not a great guitarist, my friend daniel is a great guitarist, i am not.
