guitar theory
guitar theory
hey guys, ive mostly been learning from tabs this whole time. but i want to learn the theory (i think thats wat it called), u know with all the notes and chord names lke Gm7sus. I've heard people who know all this stuff, and they say it really pays off. plus im starting to write some of my own songs, so i think it would be helpful. Thanks

guitar lesons are crap if you want to learn theory and guitar smarts. take a class at school like band (HS) or music theory I (College). That'll help you to name chords and such.
I think lessons help mostly in developing technique, speed, fretboard awareness, and provides direction in all those things. if you have the opportunity to take lessons then go for it. it will help immensely in your playing. word.

theory is great, definitely worth learning, but it's not easy nor fun, but it pays off if you work at it.
