hey ive been playing for a year and a half and im getting the nack for guitar today i decided i would go and look for guiatars...well i went into a local shop and saw that he had a dc-15e (i think that was it..solid mohog cutaway with elecs) and something that caught my eye was a martin dm. he had it selling for 850..and i knew i saw it online for 700ish..(and on martin.com its $999) so i was like 650 for the DM and he called his "boss" and they agreed 650... now is that a good deal on the martin DM or should i look around...i played it and i actually liked the sound better than the DC-15 (and the DM was out of tune)

i currently play a alvarez rd-20sc

it would be much help if you could give me the low down on the DM and comparable guitars

thanks in advance :D

DM's sound very nice and are a great way to get Martin sound for little $$$. The sides and back on the DM and the OOOM models are laminated, however both have solid tops and nice appointments. I'd highly recommend either the DM or the OOOM over the DX1 or the 000X1 because of wood selection and appointments.

If you're not a professional musician and/or don't have/want to throw a lot of $$$ down for a higher end Martin, then grab up a DM is you like dreds and if you want a smaller axe go for the 000M. They both sound sweet, thanks to Martin's bracing system and hand craftsmanship.

Peace,

CJT

i own a dm and am VERY happy with it. I payed $549 for mine new with a HSC. See if you can get them to get down a little more in price. the best tip i can give you is shop around and print out ads from other competitors. If the place is reputable, they should have no problem price matching to make a sale.
