Epiphone Les Paul Electric Guitar

Unread post by incubusdmb5 » Sun Apr 25, 2004 10:11 am

im getting an electric guitar and im pretty much 95% sure that this is the model i want. i dont know the exact model but i've played the epiphone les paul standard in a shop and loved it. does anyone have this guitar or have any suggestions on which guitar to get? if you know of any other good ones please list. im thinking price range around 500-800.

also...if you know of any good effects that be great too. i like the mxr phase and the dunlop wah wah pedal.

im not an epi fan myself... id recommend to keep looking. you should try a Godin, i think isaac got his SDxt for about $400. Godin is a great company.

as for effects, MXR Phase 90 is probably good, but im more of a Vox man when it comes to wah. what amp are you getting?

Damn bro. I had a MG30DFX but sold it over the summer. I do have a MXR Phase-90 too but I think I want to keep that til I get an electric. It is a sweet pedal though, Nice to Know You and Pardon Me sound pretty tight with it. Also, A Certain Shade of Green (Lounge Version) is awesome with it.

Godin SD or SDxt
G&L Legacy

that's all you'd ever need. check out both companies. excellent excellent and perfect for your price range.

and yeah, i got a custom SDxt for 400 and it's better than a lot of shit i've played.

Epi Les Pauls are fine, just it won't stand up to a Gibson, but for their price, it's pretty nice, just knew it's not the top of the line, so it won't sound as good, and it's not built as well, so make sure you plan on getting the gibson down the road

Also, if you are getting and Les Paul, Gibson Les Pauls come also without the carved top, inwhich their price goes down. Look at one of the those as well.

Get a thicker les paul. I had a studio one and the sustain wasn't up to les paul snuff. Its heavy, but if you get in a fight you can beat someone over the head with it.

this is an ok guitar, but it can be so much better if you fix it up a bit. i'm not expert but replacing the pickups with some from Gibson could be a good start.

I own an Epi Les Paul 100. Mine has the bolt on neck, all in all a beginner electric, but still a good electric. One thing I want to do, but haven't got a chance to yet is replace the pickups with some Seymour Duncans. That's the only thing that I'd change about it. All in all I'd say Epiphone is a good name, reliable and then some. You can't really go wrong for the price.

Um, I own a Les Paul Studio, and it plays fine, and the sustain is fine. It's great. The one you played must have been defective, because mine is great.

yeah, I'm not an epiphone fan myself. Nor am I a marshall fan. But for your price range you might be able to get a Gibson SG. I don't know if you're down for the look of them, but they're good guitars.... they're gibsons!

Pedal wise, if y ou want a nice distortion pedal, look at an Ibanez TS9. It's the only thing I'd ever buy that's made by ibanez!
