question on a strat...

my friend is buying a fender stratocaster sometime soon, and he wanted to know what the difference between rosewood and maple is on the neck of the guitar and what sound difference it would make.. i was kind of wondering too, heh, so if anyone could enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure but I think Rosewood has a dark almost black fretboard and a maple one is very light coloured, almost white. Other than that I don't know what the benefits of one over the other would be.

im not completely sure but i think maple is a harder wood so the sound and feel will be different...

rosewood is just brown with black streaks in it really.

anyway, im not a personal fan of maple necks. with a strat you wont notice much of a difference because most of the tone comes from the pickup.

There's not much difference sound-wise, but the feel is different. There's not really one that's better than the other, its just a personal preference. I prefer maple, but its really your call.
