drop d

how do i drop d tune my guitar?
i have an electrical tuner, but for some reason it won't register a d on the e string?..?? any insight would be appreciated..

E string 7th fret when in 'D' should match an open A string when tuning by ear. If your using the tuner fret the 2nd fret and that should register an E if you in 'drop D'.

or just pluck the E and D strings together 'till they match, heh
