No, its not something that only the microphone picks up. You should hear it all the time and that is one thing that buged the hell out of me. I have since been playing without a pick for a couple years now. Best thing I think I ever did to improve my playing style. However, I think that some people can use a pick without any "pick sounds."

well, you are producing the sound, so it's not just the microphone, so to speak. try to make it so that when you strum, you don't hit the pickguard, because you really aren't supposed to.

yeah you gotta work hard at not hitting the guard... it's a pain i know but just work at it and sooner or later the mic won't be picking up the annoying click's and taps...

I agree with working on not hitting the pickguard. I've discovered countless bad habits when I record myself. Listen to some of the music that people post on this site that are recorded with the POS PC mic, that is what we should be sounding like. I think that when your playing your ear doesn't really focus on the little things as well as the sound going outward toward a mic. When you here yourself you can really dive in and critique the sound and find these little ticks. On a side some people do this on purpose wich can add alot of complexity and originality to songs. Personal opinon though if you learn someone elses song learn it their way and then change it. Do I ramble or what

I'd probably get shit for this eventually. It's a song lyric from the song Bar Room Hero by Dropkick Murphy's. It's a boston punk band if your unfamilliar. There I said it i love punk.

I did but Simon told me he'd rather listen to a drowning cat. I guess my music career is over. Anyway it's beer:30pm got to run.
