it is ALL ABOUT
being esensative to the Spirit and following that...a worship leader is expected to have his/her heart in tune to that...as long as you are being true to that, you are alright...

I play in a christian rock band, so it is my job to get my guitar, my voice, and pretty much all my fingers and toes into worship music
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

i play in a band with my christian friends too. but you know i think of it like johnny cash did. I'm a Christian who is an artist. I'm not a Christian artist. but we rock. i just don't like the stigma of amy grant and artists like that hanging over a rock band. (but i do listen to them and think they are awesome gifted musicians)

I'm the same way, I'm a Christian who is an artist, not a Christian artist, I have way too many problems with the Christian music industry to consider myself a Christian artist...

I've been reading the boards for some time now and thought now would be a good time to join so I could put my two cents in here. I've been helping/leading worship at the campus ministry I am a part of for a few months now, and I don't think I've watched a song make as much of an emotionally and spiritually right setting as "No Sacrifice" by Jason Upton. It really is one of the most amazing songs I've heard. The tab is partially wrong on christianguitar.org, so I'll give them to you here. Also, you can download it on kazaa. Jason plays the piano with it, but I'm sure you can figure out where to make the changes.
Verse:
D, Em, F#m, G
Chorus:
Bm, A, D, G
A("this is no sacrifice, it's my life")Bm, A, D, G
We usually play it in C when we're leading worship because it's a little easier for everyone to sing.

hey, i'm new here too, but this thread made me join. i actually have to go to class right now, but i play the drums and lead from the guitar at my youth group, and i was wondering if anyone here plays any United songs... I'm from Canada and heard them play at a Worship Together conference up here...
if you've heard of Hillsongs in Australia... they're the youth there... songs like King of Majesty, Now That You're Near, Perfect King, Son of God, My God, are all amazing... i encourage you to check 'em out!

Wow, good thread.
I currently play at a couple of churches. Right now I'm in one of the rotating bands for sunday morning services at my home church, and I play for a High School youth group at another church. The youth group is cool because its kind of like a Late Night talk show meets Game Show meets Saturday night Live, so we mostly play little short intros to games and things like that, and usually at least one or two "performance" songs that compliment the message of that night (usually radio-friendly stuff. Over the past year we have played Train, Norah Jones, John Mayer, Dave Matthews, etc.). At my home church is pretty strictly praise and worship, with the occasional christian performance song thrown in. I love doing it because there is no better feeling than knowing you may have contributed to leading someone to Christ, or the feeling you get when you look out to see a couple hundred people praising God. Also, for some reason incredible musicians flock to churches. Its amazing. If you want to find some good musicians to play with, stop by a church. Anyway, here's the set list of songs we're doing this sunday morning:
Only A God Like You
That's Where I Want To Live
Into The Light
Here I Am To Worship
Performance Song: "Daniel Prayed" (an old bluegrass song being played by: mandolin, upright bass, 4 vocalists, and me on guitar. Should be fun)
