Yo- I don't really have a solution, but I can tell you that I went throught the same thing, and only about a month ago was I able to play barre chords (and I've been playing for almost 2 years) Just work on them until it starts to drive you crazy and then move on to something else. That's what I did, and then when you go back, out of nowhere, they are easier. And then one day, I could just do it. And I thought, 'why did I think this was so hard?' Hope this helps....

Oh and Jack Johnson is the master of barre chords
Sonmetimes I would try to catch her, but I never even caught her name.....

Does everyone have problems with barre chords, I never thought they were that hard, and the people that say you dont need to learn them or use them, what do you play in place of them?

i didn't have much trouble w/ barre chords. most of the time i end up muting the G string when playing E based barre chords and the high E string when playing A based. but that's never a problem unless im playing arpeggio (sp?) or something, then i just have to hold down harder and i get them all. but i do the side of your index finger method. my advice would be not to worry about it. just get it to where it doesn't buzz, then no one will know cause you can't tell on a guitar when just one string is muted.

i just read over what i wrote and have come to the conclusion that i in no way shape or form offered any real help. sorry :?

that would be a problem considering the G string on E based barre chords determines whether it is major or minor, otherwise you are just playing a power chord

But it takes allot of practice.
huh? i you can get every single string if you do it that way...

Most people that play a reggae type song like "Flake" or "Bubble Toes" or something like that(Ben Harper, and Bob Marley played like this alot too) it gives you a different sound, hard to explain, but it definitely is the way to play reggae sounds much better. His normal songs he plays just over the soundhole normally

Its more of a mellower sound. He moves back and forth depending on the song. During the outro to Flake he's strumming at the 12th fret.

So where is he normally strumming, like down around the last few frets? Thats weird, gives it a real mellow, warm feeling though.

What tab do you use for Touch of Grey? I still don't think I've found one that suited me. And is there a specific site you use for GD tabs?

(sorry to get off topic, I just got barre chords myself so I really don't have anything useful to offer)
