YODA: Anger, fear, agression, the dark side of the force are they.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

gcom, I feel your frustration with that song. I've been taking a break from Dave for months now and just writing my own songs/riffs whatever. and a lot of times I come up with a simple nice little thing and think: woah, ok I'm gonna make a song out of this, and I plug away and it gets more complicated and at first you sort of know where you want to go with it but then you add more chords and you stray from the original key and get all fucked up and totally get lost and kind find your way to the beginning.
ok did that make any sense? hope so.
maybe its when you "try" to write something it doesn't come out the way it should. kinda just have to somehow let it come out on its own.
good, and you?

Weren't you the one who said guitar players should never have to use alternate tunings, it just shows lack of talent? Or am I totally misquoting you... if i am, sorry.

I have a 12-string so alternate tunings are out of the question for me. way too much trouble. I'm trying to get up the courage to change my strings. I'll probably wait a few more weeks though.
good, and you?

I don't think I said that although I remember something along those lines...I don't think it had to do with alternate tunings though...probably more to do with people playing songs in G basically up and down the neck with capoes and acting like they're still being creative when they're still just playing the same three chords...

No, no it was during that whole anti-Raised B thing - you said it was stupid for Dave to write in anything other than standard, and it showed lack of talent. or something like that, i dunno

I'm not so sure about that, show me...but I do think raised b is absolutely absurd.
