ok here it is but before trying to read it I suggest copying and pasting it into a Microsoft Word document, if you don't have word....well...find someone who does
Code: Select all
Under The Bridge (acoustic)
Written and Performed originally by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Originally tabbed by: Jimmy Brown (Acoustic Guitar World writer)
Notes: IMPORTANT! This song is played with a capo on the second fret. All chords and notes are relative to the capo. Secondly, I’ve written all this out in Microsoft Word so when you get it in your email if you’re having trouble reading it simply copy and paste it to a blank Microsoft Word document. Also, I am breaking this tab into sections, intro, verse, chorus, et cetera. Last but not least, please enjoy.
Figure 1: Intro
|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|--1------------1*------------------0---------------------------------------------------1-3-1-----------
|---------0-----------0----------------------------1*--------------------------------0----------0--2/4-4
|------2----2-------------------------------2----------2---2—0---------------2-------2----------3/5-5
|--3---------------------2-0------------2-----2-------------------3--0---2/3----3----------------------
|------------------------------3-2---0---------------------------------------------------------------------
|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|--0-------------------------------------------------0----------------------------------------------
|---------------------1*----------------------------------------------1*------------1--------------
|------------2--------------2----2---0-----------------------2-------------2------------2---------
|-------2-------2-------------------------3---0---------2--------2-------------2------------2/5--
|--0-------------------------------------------------0-----------------------------------------------
*Two 16th notes slurred together.
As you can tell after figure one rhythms will not be included in the transcription. It’s nothing that you can’t figure out on your own.
Figure 2: Verse
|--2-----------------------------------------------------2--2---2--(2)---------------------
|--3---X---2---(2)-----2-3-2-----------3---2---3----3--3---2--(2)-----2-3-2-----2---
|--2---X---2---(2)------------2--2--4--4---2---4----2--2---2--(2)-2-----------2------
|--0---X---2---(2)—2-----------2--4-------4---5----0----------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------4---5----------------------------------------
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|------------------------| -2--------------------2------------------
|---------3---3---(3)---| -2-------------------2-------------------
|--2--4--4---4---(4)---| Repeat -2-------------------2-------------------
|--2--4------5---(5)---| above -0--------------------0-------------------
|-------------5---(5)---| section & -------------------------------------------
|------------------------| ß -------------------------------------------
I’ve tried to show larger spaces between chords and notes by more dashes. Naturally as you play through the song you will notice the rests and the rhythms. The second line you will see large spaces in between the two Dmaj7’s. This area is marker with a asterisk in the magazine with the note: Knock on top of guitar w/ knuckles and palm of right hand. The section in between the two chords has rhythms for the muting, but again I don’t feel the need to write them out here.
Figure 3: Pre-chorus:
|--0---2---------------0---(0)-------------------
|--0---3-------2------0---(0)--------------------
|--0---2-------2------0---(0)--------------------X---X repeat 4 times
|--2---0-------2------2---(2)--------------------X---X
|--2-----------0-------2---(2)-------------------X---X
|--0-------------------0---(0)--------------------X--X
There is a lot of space in between all the chords so just be careful.
Figure 4: Chorus:
|--3---3-(3)-----3------------1---3-(3)------------------|
|--3---3-(3)-----3---X--X---1---3-(3)------------------|
|--4---3-(3)-----3---X--X---2---3-(3)------3----------| repeat twice
|--5---5-(5)-----5---X--X---3---1-(1)-3/5----5-3-5--|
|--5---5-(5)-----5---X--X---3--------------------------|
|--3---3-(3)--3---------------1---------------------------|
|--3---------------------2---------1
|--3---------------------1---------1
|--3---------------------2---------2
|--1---------------------0---------3
|-----------------------------------3
|-----------------------------------1
Again on that second line the chords are repeated in a steady 8th note fashion. Nothing fancy just making a note of it so no one thinks they just hit the chord once and hold it. And that’s it. There is some funky mandolin-like outro chords, but I didn’t bother putting them in. If anyone is really confused (I’m not sure how well I actually did on this), please reply to this email or drop me a line at MusicManDX@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Kevin
P.S: not a half bad way to make my 500th post!

This tab wasn't taken from a video though, it's just how the guy in the magazine figured out how to play it and made it sound good...I guess
