No Shit! This is just getting out of hand, like musicians don't make enough money anyway, I highly doubt any group is dependent on their Tab book sales, its just fucking Corporate America trying to make even more money and its disgusting.
Lets just deprive people across the world, one more open door to the gift of music, it really makes me sick.
I think if they are making money off of advertisment and stuff thats what they mean though, And Jail Time that just seems laughable

"Hey, so how'd you end up in here?"
"I bought a CD, figured out how to play the songs by ear, and typed it up on Wordpad."
".....so, did you like write the entire score or something?"
"No, it was just a bunch of hyphens and numbers."

actually club/bar owners have to pay some bogus musician's association a monthly fee to allow music at their place that supposedly gives royalties to songwriters who are covered.guy wrote: I'm pretty sure its legal to play any song you want as long as you don't claim it as your own. If you play it live and its not recorded in any way, there is no problem.
My dad was in the music buisness for a long time and said they were the biggest buncy of assholes ever.
Life is Good
well it was a problem on a few other sites.
apparently since you can't really copyright a chord progression then it's ok to post the tabs. but you can copyright the lyrics and they have to be used with permission. i'm not saying that this site has a problem because i don't know how kanter went about it but i know of a few sites that had to completely remove the lyrics to the songs.

soon lawyers will be hanging out in bars, and drilling people with fines for covering songselijah77jc wrote:well it was a problem on a few other sites.

I heard those guys are worse than the Mafia! One local bar here gets their ass handed to them buy the association and most of the music that is played there is original! Even all the music in the Juke box is local bands but since ocassionally a cover is played they have to shell out some large sum of money. Its bad enough its hard to keep a bar above ground especially when you have assholes trying to collect money for this shit.el Jammo wrote:Speenis wrote: actually, unless i'm mistaken, this is technically illegal alreadyactually club/bar owners have to pay some bogus musician's association a monthly fee to allow music at their place that supposedly gives royalties to songwriters who are covered.guy wrote: I'm pretty sure its legal to play any song you want as long as you don't claim it as your own.
