how do you know what scales go with what chords?

actually i tried it out and it sounded more liek it was in D when i soloed to it (tried to solo)

Nope , pretty sure its the key of A.. since theres a G sharp in there and D doesnt have the G sharp.

(A and D are very simalar, only one note difference so..)
