I can't play it low. I don't care how goofy I look, I still play it high.

yeah, it's virtually impossible for me to play it low.
and it looks funny standing up, so I just sit.

ive been playing for over a year so im automatic with the basic chords and can play a lot of stuff without looking at the fretboard. i guess it's just the new position of the guitar that takes some getting used to.

has anyone else had this problem? or how do you guys strap on your geetar? lower (i.e. pop-punk style) or higher (i.e. dave)? any advice?

thanks...

play it with it hanging down by your knees. not only is it easier but you look WAY cooler doing it!

*end sarcasm

i dealt with this same thing.
i was getting ready for my first show, and i bought a strap, then i couldn't play with it. especially billies, i sucked at it standing up. but i practiced a lot standing up and got pretty used to it.
just practice with it, and as said several times on this thread, keep it up high. it helps so much.
and what i found helped me a lot was to get a "plug" or whatever you call it, knob maybe, on the guitar body to hold the strap, instead of tying it to the neck. if you have your strap on the neck now, i highly recomend attatching it to the top of the body. but be careful if you drill the hole yourself, it might be best to bring it to the store and have them do it, they only cost a few bucks.

i got tons of shit from my family when i played standing up, cause the damn thing would be up at my shoulders, but that never stopped me, cause it was comfortable. now that im older, i play it more around my stomach
