i think the tele's look nicer personally.
humbuckers give you a fatter sound, and they also have some sort of noise killing property (hence the name, hum-bucker) because the 2 coils are reversed, but i never bothered to learn exactly how they do it.

i think strats look good.. but les pauls look better.
anyway, yeah, by reversing the coils in a humbucker it cancels out some of the sound. it adds a little chunk to the sound. theyre far better than single coils in just about every way

I personally like the Telecaster. It has a very versatile feel to me...and I love the design. It really isn't *that* twangy..i mean, it doesn't sound like an electric dobro or anything...just an electric guitar. Teles are just really nice. But get whatever you like the most...

it's twangy if you want it to be twangy, but you can get a lot of sounds out of it, but still, STRATS!!!

I'm gonna say yes because LP Studio's are amazing, BUT, those pickups are not the normal (current) LP pickups.phatnev wrote:Someone look at this link and tell me if thats a decent deal http://elderly.com/vintage/items/30U-11478.htm
this one has 2 P90 pickups, a normal LP studio has a 490R and a 498T...so i would research the differences there (i have no idea), because either it is a good deal, or those pickups are the reason it is cheap.
anyone else?

This is what it says about them at the website....so basically just compare the American Strat to that studio cus that would be the one Id be buying and if these pickups are THAT bad how much would it set me back to replace em with humbuckers
Widely known as Gibson’s first successful single-coil pickup, the lean and mean P-90 offers a stellar combination of high output and biting treble response. After nearly 50 years, the P-90 is still a favorite among musicians as a replacement alter-native for the typical single coil pickups.
The P-90 features vintage two-conductor, braided, shielded wiring, and comes in either the "dog ear" or "soap bar" mounting with creme or black plastic covers
