Sorry for not getting into this conversation after I asked a question early on in the thread...I was out of town.

There are alot of songs listed here that I play with my group, but for the youth groups there seems to be something missing...particularly with the guys...they don't seem turned on to it...maybe its just the age.

Firedancer, I'm taking our middle school group (6th, 7th and 8th graders) on a mission trip 1st week of August to a rural part of Virginia. Got any ideas for a few set lists?? I know I'll want to repeat alot of them so they know a few by heart when the trip is over.

ok...one of the things to keep fluent p&w is to keep in the same key so you can flow in and out of songs...or at least songs that you can easily link together when being led by the Spirit without losing people in the chord change...

No I wasn't really asking you to come up with the songs for me, I was just wondering from your experience as a youth group leader what worked and what didn't. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Personally, between me and God, I know exactly what I want to play...to bring me closer to God. What I'm afraid of is that what I play might not be reaching out to others...you know what I mean :?

This is a great site that i live off of if i wanna learn a christian song. They are good and they don't let a lot of trashy tabs in...and we all know how great it is to find a site that actually has correct tabs...so check this out.

middle schoolers are always the toughest, believe me...the girls, yeah, most of them kinda go with it, but the guys are stuck in the "trying to be cool" mode still. It doesn't seem like it goes away in high school either unfortunately. For a large part, I don't think it does for a lot of people until they're allowed to do as they please as it comes to attending church. For the most part, until kids are really out of the house, it's often the parents making them go to church, or even if they would go otherwise, somehow they feel like they're still being forced to go if that makes sense...hmmm, I guess what I'm trying to say is at the college level, dang, it's a lot better. People don't come unless they want to come and it shows with the praise and worship. The balance of voices in the room is much more prevelent, where in high school it tends to be about 75/25 ratio of girls to guys singing, and in middle school when it's about 90/10...I've lead two middle school groups and it always is the same. keep trying, but don't become discouraged. just keep in mind that even if it doesn't seem like it's working now, you're planting seeds.

hey, does anyone here have a very good tab of Relient K's Never Under Estimate My Jesus? i can only find one, and it just doesn't sound right to me.

verse: E A C#m B

chorus: E A C#m B

bridge: E A C#m C-2x then B C#m and back into E A C#m B

it's almost right, but there's something about it, i think. i dunno.

this thread is pretty surprising...never did I expect that this many people would be talking about the songs being talked about...although it seems like every praise and worship leader is obsessed with dmb too, so it really shouldn't surprise me...

Thanks gcom..I agree with everything you said. Believe me, I'm not getting discouraged. When it comes to middle shool and high school groups, all I focus on is planting seeds. I take the long term approach.

I was just hoping the music thing would work out a little better....maybe I'm focusing on my selfish desires. Maybe the problem is my guitar playing  .....naw, couldn't be that 8)
