exactly, it's like that eminem song "Role Model" "I've been with 10 women who have HIV, hey kids, don't you wanna grow up to be just like me?!"

and the dave version, I type literally with a cramped pinky and tingling in my wrist from playing it... "I play barre chords with my pinky, don't ya wanna get carpel tunnels just like me?!"

actually I had a weird pain in my hand the other day - I think it after playing Captain. It's gone now, but it always bothers me when I get little pains in my knuckles and that. I don't want carpel tunnel :!:
no you don't, and do you know what an EMG is? they stick needles all over you and shoot electrical currents into your nerves to test your nerves...it's not a fun experience. at first it wasn't real bad but they hit something in my elbow that instantly made me nausaus, sweaty, and just awful...I was tired to no end for the rest of the day...just not fun...

Is it really that hard for you guys (on your wrists) to play captain?

Don't want to come across as a jerk, so don't take me that way, but the chords are just like #41...so whats up?

I have no problem actually doing it, I can play that song effortlessly, however, it doesn't change that it's hurting my wrist to do so

no its not that hard on me. I was just over exerting myself that one time. you're right its just like #41 only a longer stretch since its closer to the bridge. It's tougher with elixer strings 'cause of how slippery they are. I have D'Addario phos/bronz back on now and it's more comfortable, period. Actually its not hard on my wrist at all.

peace,
Ken

I tried elixers a few times. Never again. yeah they last longer but they don't have the tone.

I use elixers but I am probably going to change to D'Addarios cause of all of the great things I have heard of them...Dave is easy to play on the Elixers because they are so slippery...lol, try using some heavy martins to do all of that sliding!!!

I tend to over slide with the elixers. The D'Addario phos/bronz have the perfect degree of slickness. The regular 80/20 bronze or 85/15 bronze are a bit too sticky and squeaky.

I put some on my gibson because I got them for free at martin day at elderly instruments and you can't do much with them without pain where there should be bigger callouses

lol...yeah, i hear that! I learned for 4 or 5 years with them on a cheap fender acoustic that "creaked" every time you try to slide and had about 2 inch action on the neck!!! Yeah, I learned Dave the hard way...but that did build my finger strength up a bit and now I can play most any guitar with ease!

You too?..and I thought it was my horrible tuning ear. Im sure it was a combination of the strings and my ear that casued it to snap every fourth of fifth day.

Peace. :D
