Worth it to get a twelve string?

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

12 strings help build finger strength and they add a little somethin to daves songs - ie satellite and the stone sound awesome on my 12.

12 strings are good for lots of stuff.... one thing is they sound waaay better in low tunings than a 6 string. if you 12 string fanatics want some challenging stuff, try playing some of Leo Kottke's songs. but im sure youve already heard of him....

i had a 12 string for about 8 months, and i loved it but hardly ever played it. you just can't do as much on a 12 as with a regular 6. ive started doing more recording and playing with my band, so i ended up trading it in toward my '56 reissue danelectro....
i miss it occasionally, but having an electric adds a lot of new music i can play. my advice is to buy a 12 if you have the extra cash.
