I have a fairly decent, but fundamentally cheap acoustic. It's a Crestwood six-string acoustic that a got for only $90, which was over $100 off due to my connections with the owner of a piano repair shop. It's good for practicing which I do all the time, and it was the guitar that really got me addicted to the instrument. My 1st guitar was a Peavey Raptor electric that I gt over two year s ago and I now have a black Fender Strat as well. Eventually, I'd like to pick up one of those Ibanez Artwoods or more unrealistically, a Taylor, Martin, or Gibson.

yeah, Ibanez is prolly a good way to go for the next step. that or a low/mid range Martin. can't get a Taylor for much less then a $1000 unless its a big baby. but you get like a Martin D-15 or D1 or something for like 600 or 700. I can't see me getting a Taylor because I think they cost too much, but what I really want is a Martin HD-28 but they run for about $2000 retail. maybe I can get a deal somewhere.duluoz wrote:I have a fairly decent, but fundamentally cheap acoustic. I was in a guitar store, and saw a really really really bad epiphone for $75 (CDN) so I bought it.
It's the worst guitar ever, and yet..
I like it more than my Yamaha (guh, that was a mistake.. big waste of money).
And now, it's time to save up for something better (but I haven't decided yet).

i play an old yamaha sj-180, which i bought off of one of my friends for 75 dollars before i ever had any clue about anything related to guitars... it was a GREAT pickup, everyone that plays it is absolutely stunned when i tell them it cost me 75 bucks... what i really want is a taylor 710 or a Martin Paul Simon model

He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.

Its not always about the guitar , but the person who plays it that counts , the worlds most beautiful sounding guitar will sound like shit if its played wrong , just as well as a cheap ass 1$ guitar would sound pretty good if its played right .... If people haven't seen what you're playing , and if it sounds good , then they'll ask for your setup right away , and they will be even more shocked when you tell them lol , trust me i've tried ittheancienttree wrote:i have some noname small 6string acoustic that i got from my bros friend for $5 (no lie) i learned to play on it, really not to bad sounding for what it is

I have a Johnson that is royal blue, that cost between $80 and $100. I've been playing on it for 2 and half years now. It sounds pretty good, if you don't jam pretty hard on it. strings start buzzing then. I'm looking to get something new though.
I also have a Takamine classical/electric EG255C I'm about to sell. Anybody interested?
