Self Inulgent garbled shit????? I really have no idea how you can say that when they are a truly original, and pretty unique band. Not to mention that they actually are talented musicains - something not found too often in todays 'mainstream' society.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has them.

Yeah self indulgent garbage.
A perfect example, The Widow on Frances the Mute. Perfectly good song but the 4 minutes of fucken noise till you get to the next track (there's about a million of these on the album)... What's that about? That's not original, it's just annoying.
What were they thinking? "Lets see how much we can annoy people and make them think they're listening to something AMAZING!!!!!!"

Not to mention the endless time sig changes on probably all of the tracks. I'm a huge fan of time changes but used in moderation.
I'd much rather hear a great melody over a simple verse, chorus, bridge blah blah instead of a million different changes without any sort of structure. It's just difficult to listen to.

For example:
Listen to Ivia Iviaquez and honestly tell me that you're not cringing at the 6 minute mark. This could have been one hell of a song but as a whole, it's just shit cause it's too hard to follow.

The thing that bugs me about them is that trying to make everyone think that their music is way too good to be appreciated now and that in a few years, they will be the next big thing. I'm pretty sure that's what they're aiming for.
Kudos to them for trying to make something new, I just don't think that they're very good at it.

I think they are pretty incredible. I bought Frances the Mute going in blind because a good friend suggested it. I listened all the way through twice, and while I admit that it's pretty crazy at times, there really is this deep choesion to the whole album. There are themes and motifs everywhere, and so no matter how far out in space the muisic goes, it always comes back to a really tight driving riff. Badass.
