The studio isn't making them sound better it's the engineer. He can basically cut and paste until there's a decent track there.
Real musicians will sit there and do take after take until they get it right all the way through. Sure the nice equipment will give it the best recorded sound possible but the performance itself is genuine.
that and they put an effect on the singers voice, which made him not sound like a screeching cat anymore.

Slight change in plans, I'm heading over there in like 45 minutes, and I should have a recording when I get home.

So we spent alot of the time learning about the software, best way to mic, figuring things out etc. I ended up getting a fairly decent track down, but I really messed up the ending. The banjo's there, but it just doesn't sound all that great. I have scrapped the outro as you hear it. I came up with a more suitable one after we recorded. Bottom line - we're definately not done. We're redoing the entire thing. This was basically just a practice day.

Again, don't mind the ending, we scrapped it and I came up with a new one, we just didnt record it.

Not bad. I'm liking the intro. Reminds me of a country tune. Very nice as a whole.

I just listened to it again. I think it needs some kind of interlude to break it up. And should have turned up the banjo.

Yep, working on that as well. And we didn't mess with the banjo (after the initial turn down - it was alot louder then a finger picked guitar), so it's hard to hear.

I almost want to ruin the beauty to put in a bass track. My god, so tempting. Don't let me.

I have it on repeat and can't get it out of my head. What key is it in? I already have a bassline in my head.

Must...not...

I have the worst recording set up ever.

Hah. I knew it was right in that area. I've been playing along with it for a few minutes. I like the banjo. On the whole it reminds me of a laid back flecktones tune or just a mellow piece that's good for anything.

Yeah, the banjo's not the problem, it's my playing and the riff that I'm playing. I just don't like it. But thanks though for the words. :)
